Security van raid in Bingham
Police are hunting for two men involved in a £4,000 security van raid in Bingham on Tuesday.
A security guard was collecting money from Toot Hill School on The Banks at 11.40am.
He was in the school reception at the time and was uninjured.
The robbery was witnessed by four students and a driving instructor dropping a pupil off at school at the time.
Senior deputy head Mr Rob Whiteley said the robbers were seen running away with four full bags each of £1 coins.
He said: “The driver returned to his van unaware of what had happened. I think it was his first day at work as well.”
The money, taken from a white Vauxhall van with no company livery on it, did not belong to the school.
Sixteen police vehicles, three ambulances and the police helicopter responded.
Police believe two white men seen in the area at the time may be able to help with their enquiries.
Both were aged in their mid-20s. One was of a stocky build and wore a black hooded tracksuit. He had a shaved head. The other was about 6ft tall, of slim build and had short dark hair and olive skin. He was wearing a blue hooded tracksuit top and black tracksuit trousers.
Police would also like to speak to the driving instructor and learner driver who were believed to be parked in a black vehicle on the main road as the offenders fled.
Witnesses, or anyone with information about the thieves or stolen money, should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
