Service for Queen's official birthday held at Southwell Minster
A service to mark the Queen’s official birthday helped raise money for a programme that benefits young people.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Mr Graham Cartledge, and the acting Dean of Southwell, Canon Nigel Coates, hosted the service at Southwell Minster on Sunday.
The service raised money for the High Sheriff’s chosen charity, Positive Futures, a series of free programmes and activities run by the Trent Bridge Community Trust to benefit young people.
The service included readings by Sir John, Mr Cartledge and Canon Jacqui Jones.
The Bishop of Sherwood, the Right Rev Tony Porter, gave the sermon.
Southwell Minster Choir and the gospel church, God’s Vineyard Ministries, provided music.
After the ceremony, Mr Cartledge proposed the loyal toast to the Queen.
