A small craft supply company is opening a one-day-only pop-up shop and sewing event.

Matthew Gray, owner of Sew Nice Limited in Saltcoats, Scotland is organising the sewing event on November 4.

Taking place at Bridge Community Centre, Lincoln Road, Newark from 11.30am to 3pm, the business owner teamed up with the Newark Sewing group to host the event.

The free event will have a pop shop in which Matthew will sell over 300 different fabrics and Jersey-stretch fabrics and haberdashery from his shop.

People are invited to bring their own sewing project, be it hand or machine, sit down and sew, without any obligation to buy the fabrics.

“These events have been a lot of fun in Scotland, and it is good to meet up with people, again. I am a lad from a small village, which is why I am trying to include the smaller towns and villages in my rounds, we never get the chance to have fun events,” said Matthew.

He added: “Let's change that. If the event is a success, then we will make it a regular occurrence.”

Existing sewing groups are welcome to take part in the event.

People can sign up to the event at https://www.facebook.com/events/1622359221586235?ref=newsfeed.

Angela Walker, one of the founders of Newark Sewing Group said that there are barely any fabric shops in town apart from Tony on the market.

“He has a great variety but he doesn’t do any haberdashery,” she said.
