Newark and Sherwood District Council tells residents that help is available for those that need shelter after Storm Henk causes flooding in Nottinghamshire

A council wants to let people know that a warm place to stay is on offer tonight (Saturday, January 6) for those that need it.

"If any resident’s home is flooded or at risk of flooding and they need a safe space overnight, a rest centre is now open," said a spokesman from Newark and Sherwood District Council.

"This is available at Newark Sports and Fitness Centre, Lord Hawke Way, Newark NG24 4FH.

“Anyone affected should make their way there and they will be met by Newark and Sherwood District Council officers who will look after you and provide you with the essentials."

The centre has been opened for several nights and it has been confirmed that people can turn up tonight if needed.
