Knowhow staff raise thousands for breast cancer charities
Staff from the Knowhow distribution centre in Newark have been wearing it pink throughout last month for breast cancer charities.
Wear it Pink events raised £4,820.
Anyone who wore something paid £1.
Some colleagues went further and were sponsored to dye their hair shocking pink.
Among those who did so were retail distribution centre colleagues Katarina Vdovcova, Adam Prestage, Stacey Franklin, Alina Oprea and Greta Ceikauskaite.
They were joined by Carphone Warehouse worker Simon Tomlinson.
Flat panel engineer Les Carter also submitted to the dyeing process.
There was a hair-raising wait for head of supply chain operations, Glenn Hawksworth, who had agreed to dye his pair pink if £2,000 in sponsorship was raised.
Alina Oprea said: “I took part because wanted to support the breast cancer charities and it helped that pink is my favourite colour.”
Greta said: “I wanted to be part of raising money for this great charity.”
Simon had a more personal reason for taking part.
“There is a history of breast cancer in my family, so it is something that has touched me personally," he said.
"I wanted do something that raised awareness and money for this cause."
Adam said: “I dyed my hair pink because I wanted to show a male solidarity with women suffering with this, and to show that we are on their side.”
Team Knowhow and its 4,000 staff is going through a busy period of fundraising at its Newark campus, with Children in Need up next in its charity itinerary.
