Singing waitress is living the dream
A coffee shop waitress has her sights set on a career in the music industry.
Grace Quincey, 19, who works in the Charles I Coffee House, Kirkgate, Newark, has been signed by Prism Music Group, an internationally renowned music management and production company.
After auditions and rehearsals, Grace’s first gig was at the Grand Theatre, Swansea, in the Heart To Heart show that features Michael Williams, lead singer with The Drifters, one of the biggest selling groups of all time.
Grace, who lives in Tuxford, works two days a week at the coffee shop, combining it with auditions in Birmingham through the week and performing at theatres and venues the length and breadth of the UK at weekends.
“This is a dream come true,” said Grace. “I have basically gone from doing Christmas pantomimes and performances for free to working with famous names in a matter of weeks.
“Michael has an amazing voice and the rest of the cast are great performers. I have to pinch myself when I am on stage with them.”
In the show Grace performs a number of solo love songs, and Motown tracks such as Band Of Gold.
She said: “This has been a whirlwind month but a very exciting one.
“Being on tour with top class performers and singing in front of hundreds of people every week is a world away from working as a waitress.
“This is the realisation of a dream.
“I’ve always wanted to be in the music industry.”
