Balderton teenager takes on skydive at Langar Airfield to raise money for Child Bereavement UK
A thrill-seeking teenager has taken a big leap to raise hundreds of pounds for a charity dedicated to helping children like her cousin.
Millie Bagdonas, 16, took part in a skydive, which she fundraised and organised herself, to raise money for Child Bereavement UK, a national charity which aims to support children under 25 who are grieving.
Millie, from Balderton, said that a skydive is something she had always wanted to do:
“I knew that for my 16th birthday I wanted to do a skydive because I love rollercoasters and bungee jumps, and I wanted to do it for a good cause.”
Child Bereavement UK had supported Millie’s cousin Max after he sadly lost one of his friends, and Millie said the charity had really helped him with his grief.
And so earlier this month, Millie took the plunge and took part in the skydive at Langar Airfield.
She said she didn’t feel nervous at all as she waited on the edge of the plane:
“It was amazing,” Millie said, “I wasn’t nervous at all and even the instructor was surprised at how calm I was.
“I was just smiling and laughing all the time, it was so exciting.”
Millie has now raised more than £600 for Child Bereavement UK, and some of her schoolteachers at Newark Academy have also sponsored her.
Her mum Sam said she was “so proud” of Millie taking part in the skydive for such a good cause.
Her grandmother Sandra Couper added: “Millie is a very beautiful, caring, thoughtful and brave young lady. I am a very lucky and proud Granny.”
