£5,000-worth of clothes donated to Cancer Research by Slimming World members pictured at Bingham Rugby Club

More than £5,000-worth of clothes in the form of a purple heart were pictured by a drone at the weekend.

The truck-load of clothes in purple bin bags were donated by Slimming World members in Bingham to fundraise for their local Cancer Research charity shop.

Slimmers took to their wardrobes for a clear-out for the fundraiser, and Slimming World consultant Rebecca Butler thought creating a purple heart out of the clothes would draw attention to the cause.

Rebecca, a consultant for seven years, said she wanted to pull out all the stops as she lost her mother-in-law to cancer in 2018.

"This was my first real experience with cancer and I truly would not wish the heartache our family has felt and still feels on anyone," she said.

"It was soul destroying. My eldest son William was just six when she passed away. Steve and I have had two beautiful babies since we lost his mum, Alfie and little Grace, who we named in her loving memory — her only granddaughter."

Rebecca said she was proud of her slimmers who came together to raise a massive £5,205 for Cancer Research UK.

She said: "It makes me feel incredibly proud and to know that I have the honour of being their Slimming World consultant means I also play a part in helping them to reduce their own personal risks of developing cancer — and this is one of the many reasons why I love my job.

"Cancer is a cruel disease and I will not stop fundraising to stand up to cancer once and for all."

After taking pictures on Saturday, the slimmers loaded the clothes into a truck to deliver to their Cancer Research charity shop.
