Focusing on the life of ordinary soldiers in the war, descendants of three soldiers will read original works of poetry as part of the commemoration.

One of the soldiers to be commemorated is Harold Theophilus Gravells, who served in the Lincoln Regiment.

There will also be biographies and readings of works by famous war poets Siegfried Sassoon, Edward Thomas and David Jones.

Film clips will tell the story of the 1914 to 1918 war, which will be interspersed with live folk music.

The performance is free but a donation to an Armed Forces charity is suggested.

1914-1918 Pals and Poets will be performed at Southwell Library on November 11 and at St Michael’s on November 12, both from 7.30pm to 9pm.
