Nottinghamshire Police dog make arrest after Land Rover Discovery taken from Landseer Road, Southwell and follow to Lincolnshire, before it was abandoned in Winston Court, Newark
A police dog successfully sniffed out a suspect after a car was stolen in Southwell.
Nottinghamshire Police were called after a Land Rover Discovery was taken from an address in Landseer Road shortly before 1am on Wednesday (February 19).
The vehicle later passed into Lincolnshire, before it was followed towards Newark and abandoned in Winston Court by two suspects, who fled the scene on foot.
Police Dog Reno and his handler PC Chris Duffy were called in to help search the area, and a suspect was sniffed out lurking in a front garden.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and failing to stop.
He was later released on police bail.
Inspector Tim Ringer, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our dogs and their handlers have had a very productive few weeks where they have played a vital role in detaining multiple suspects.
“In incidents like this where suspects have multiple hiding places to choose from, our dogs and their noses become an absolutely invaluable part of the wider policing team.”
