Spate of anti-social behaviour at YMCA Community and Activity Village, Newark, prompts police to enforce dispersal order on Lord Hawke Way
A 48-hour dispersal order has been put in place by police after a spate of anti-social behaviour at a community facility.
Young people have caused disruption at the YMCA Community and Activity Village, on Lord Hawke Way, Newark, causing staff to close the on-site cafe early and impacting both staff and members of the public using the centre.
Youths have also become rude and refused to leave, resulting in police action to remove them.
This has prompted the dispersal order to be put in place, between 12noon today (February 18), and 12 noon on Thursday, February 20, to tackle their behaviour.
Any individual who commits anti-social behaviour at the YMCA during this time will be ordered to leave for up to 48 hours — with police notifying the public that anti-social behaviour “will not be tolerated and is being taken seriously”.
Officers will also be patrolling the area to provide reassurance and deal with incidents of anti-social behaviour, as part of Operation Glenstorm which aims to tackle anti-social behaviour in Hawtonville.
PC Sisson, who put the order in place, has urged parents to be vigilant and to check on where their children are and what they are getting involved in, particularly during half term.
