He is also managing director of Natural World Pet Products, a pet company that has been in business for almost 30 years.

“We opened the store in Wellingborough because we wanted to go even more specialist and train the staff in just one area,” he said.

“The store in Newark fits our profile in terms of size perfectly.”

Scott said the backbone of K9 by Natural World was the healthy food it stocks.

The Newark store will have 14 freezers of raw dog food, including nine brands, alongside a variety of wet and dry food.

“We have quite a large selection of foods to choose from and we do have quite a big selection of raw dog food,” said Scott.

“It’s something that a lot of general pet shops don’t have a focus on,”Scott said.

The shop will also have 70 to 80 types of natural treats for dogs, such as pigs ears and chicken feet.

“That will be the centrepiece of the store,” Scott said.

Scott is currently recruiting for the shop, including management roles and full/part-time positions.

All staff will be trained on the job and all applicants need to demonstrate is a keen interest in dogs.
