A teenager will compete in his first international speed-skating championships this weekend.

Shaun Baguley, 15, a pupil at Dukeries College, Ollerton, has been training with the Nottingham Ice Racing Club for around two years.

He has been chosen to represent England in the Short Track Speed-Skating Championships in Dundee tomorrow.

Shaun, of Bilsthorpe, is one of four members of the Nottingham Racing Club taking part in the England versus Scotland championships.

He will race in either the 500-metre, 1,000-metre or 1,500-metre distances.

He trains three times a week at Nottingham Ice Arena and loves the sport.

Shaun’s mother, Mrs Sue Baguley, said: “We are very proud of him for reaching this standard and so grateful he has been given the opportunity to represent his country.”
