Sponsor of Newark Children's Bereavement Centre's Daisy Remembrance Campaign announced

A campaign commemorating lost loved ones through a meadow of daisies in Newark has announced its sponsor.

Larken & Co Solicitors has been made sponsor of the Newark Children's Bereavement Centre's Daisy Remembrance Campaign, which is due to take place at the end of next month.

The campaign is a community event organised by the charity, which will see hundreds of metal daisies displayed as a meadow in Newark Castle's gardens — and aims to bring people together in a shared grief and remembrance of lost loved ones.

“Larken & Co are delighted to sponsor this year’s Daisy Remembrance Campaign organised by the Children’s Bereavement Centre," said a spokesman.

"We are particularly pleased to support such a deserving and dynamic local charity which has real impact on helping children, young people and in turn their families through difficult times in their lives.

"It is wonderful that this campaign has proved to be one of the successful ways for the community to support the charity’s work and to remember loved ones in a special way.

"We are excited to see this year’s metal daisies have a purple make-over to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and look forward to a truly royal Meadow of Memories in the grounds of Newark Castle at the end of June.”

People can support the event by donating a suggested £25 to the Children’s Bereavement Centre in return for an ornamental metal daisy, which can be dedicated to the memory of a loved one.

The Meadow of Memories is a special and reflective event enabling families the chance to say goodbye and, this year, daisies will be purple in honour of the jubilee.

The daisy head can be removed and a special message written inside, and visitors are also invited to bring along a remembrance ribbon.

Claire Spindley, whose family has used the service, said: “We've donated for a daisy in memory of our son Austin.

"We're supporting the Daisy Remembrance Campaign this year as we know first-hand the difference that the services the centre offer to local children and their families can make.

"Last year's exhibition of daisies at Newark Castle was a very moving tribute to our loved ones and we're looking forwards to visiting this again and taking the chance to reflect and remember Austin."

It will take place on June 25 and 26 and on the Sunday evening, daisies can be collected to be kept at home, planted in a garden, or given as a gift to someone.
