A major Newark employer has confirmed that a number of staff have been made redundant.

British Sugar's Newark Factory has made six employees redundant following changes in the warehouse and distribution to make its operations more efficient.

"As part of delivering what our customers need and further improving efficiencies we made some changes to our warehouse operations and distribution network earlier in the year. Regrettably, this impacted on six roles in this area at our Newark factory and these have now been made redundant.

"The Newark factory remains focused on preparing for the upcoming sugar beet campaign."
