An elderly man who cares for his wife and 91-year-old mother has been left without transport after his car was stolen.

A black Citroen crashed into the boundary wall of a front garden on the corner of Lindsey Avenue, off Cherry Holt, at 10.10am today.

The car was stolen from an 70-year-old man on Philip Road, Newark.

The man, who has been recently diagnosed with cancer, relies on his vehicle.

Pc Andy Garner, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "The offenders stole the keys and then came back for the car later.

"Two males were in the vehicle, then crashed it here and have been seen to run off."
