Mobility scooters stolen and burnt from Carswell Close

A man has been left frustrated after his wife’s mobility scooter was stolen and set alight.

Mr John Dale, of Carswell Close, Newark, said his wife’s scooter was one of two taken from the complex.

The scooters were pushed about half a mile down the road before they were burnt beyond repair and abandoned.

Mr Dale’s wife, Rosemary, relies on her scooter to get around but, thanks to her neighbours, she hasn’t been left housebound.

“If it wasn’t for the generosity of the community then my wife wouldn’t have a scooter,” Mr Dale said.

“We have been offered several scooters and my wife hasn’t had to go without.”

Nottinghamshire Police are investigating.
