Success for spring shows

Fears by gardening and horticultural societies in the Advertiser area that the cold weather would mean entries in their annual spring shows would be badly hit at the weekend proved largely unfounded.

Sunshine and blue skies last week helped to give the spring bulbs and flowers a boost and, as a result, four village shows in Collingham, Long Bennington, Caunton and South Muskham were able to report that although some classes were cancelled on the whole the events were as successful as ever.
