Support urged for Portas Pilot bid

Newark businesses are being urged to support the town's bid for a share of a £1m prize aimed at injecting life into the nation’s high streets.

The deadline for applications to become one of 12 Portas Pilot towns across the country is Friday.

Newark's bid is being led by the business club.

If successful, it could see the expertise of retail guru Mary Portas brought to the town.

An online survey has been set up for businesses, retailers, café’s and restaurants in the town to lend their support.
