Survival inspires artwork

Pupils taking part in a project about survival made sculptures depicting food, fuel, water and shelter.
All 77 pupils, aged four to 11, at All Saints’ Primary School, Elston, took part.
The project received a £3,000 grant from the Government’s creative partnership. The school also contributed £1,000.
For two weeks, the pupils were split into four teams to focus on their different topics — food, fuel, water and shelter.
The project ended with a trading day between the teams.
Using mainly recycled materials, artist Mrs Sue Gould helped the pupils to create sculptures depicting their elements.
Teacher and project co-ordinator Miss Lauren Burns said the children all got involved and enjoyed the project.
