Man of Bellmond Close, Newark appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court after being charged with burglary of a fish and chip shop on Victoria Street, Newark
A 53-year-old suspect has been charged following a fish and chip shop burglary.
Police officers attended the chip shop in Victoria Street, Newark after reports it had been burgled.
It was reported that a window was smashed to gain entry and a till was ripped out from behind the counter.
Offenders stole the cash from inside the till.
The incident took place on June 11 at around 1am.
Following an investigation, suspect Wayne Cook, 53, was arrested and charged with burglary.
Cook, of Bellmond Close, Newark appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 26, where he was released on conditional bail.
PC Denise Fenton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Burglary is an incredibly invasive crime that deeply impacts people’s lives, or in the case of this incident, their livelihoods.
“We will always look to respond to and thoroughly investigate all calls of burglary we receive, so we hope this charge shows the public just how seriously we take reports of this nature.”
He is due to return to court on October 17.
