Newark man receives suspended prison sentence for assualt, and other cases from Nottingham Magistrates’ Court
A Newark man who failed to stop at the scene of a car accident in Pleasley, where he assaulted another man, receievd a suspended prison sentence.
Henry Taylor, 33, of Taylor’s Paddock, Tolney Lane, had the case against him proved in absence, but strong personal mitigation at sentencing kept him out of jail.
Nottingham magistrates heard two employees of his business would lose their jobs and their families and his would suffer should he be imprisoned.
Taylor was sentenced to 20 weeks, suspended for a year.
He was also told to pay £100 in compensation to the victim of the assault and £748 in court costs.
A motorist faces a total bill of £146 after being caught driving without wearing his seatbelt.
Christopher Guymer, 31, of Stafford Avenue, Balderton, was fined £40 and told to pay costs of £106 at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court for the offence, committed under the Road Traffic Act 1988.
Guymer was caught on Lincoln Road, Tuxford, and had the case against him proved in absence.
An uninsured driver escaped a totting-up ban after magistrates heard of a lack of support networks to assist with her children and that losing her licence would affect her job prospects.
Rebecca Cave, of Swinton Copse, Boughton, accepted her guilt and was fined £120 with costs of £124 awarded against her.
Her driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points. Those points would have meant a ban, but magistrates used their discretion not to impose one.
A Southwell man who drove without due care and attention was fined £338 and had six penalty points added to his licence.
David Munn, 45, of Lower Kirklington Road, was also told to pay £225 in costs.
The plea was one of guilty.
