“We are absolutely delighted to celebrate the success of our first year 11 cohort.” said Nic Watkin, headteacher.

“Our students have secured a really strong set of results and I am incredibly proud of them all. They have shown amazing character and should be extremely proud of themselves and the first set of results The Suthers School has achieved.”

The school proudly shared that almost 75% of pupils secured a gradefour and over 50% a grade five in both English and maths.

The former head student, Amelia Beresford, who received an incredible set of results including a grade seven in drama and in maths and a Level 2 Distinction in enterprise and marketing said: “I was really impressed with my results, I am proud of how hard I worked.

"It felt really abnormal to be at home doing work during the pandemic, but the school and all the schools showed so much tenacity and that really helped me get through it all. I think after all the hard bits we’ve really done well.”

One student who achieved outstanding results with six grade nines was Leo Vadgama.

“I am happy with my results, I got six nines and I took further maths and computer science as additional subjects which was interesting. The examiners being more lenient on the grades because of covid was good for everyone.”

Megan Smalley, a fantastic student according to the teachers, was very nervous to open her results.

“I am really nervous but I think in maths I’ve done really well as well as French and music.” said Megan.

She got an eight in maths, seven in French and six in music.

“I am over the moon because I did better than I expected and I have all the grades to do what I want for A-levels," she said.

“Getting back in the classroom felt like I had to step out of my comfort zone because I got so used to working from home, I didn’t know where to begin when we came back to school this year!

“I am really proud."

Andy Seymour, executive headteacher said: “Whilst we place great importance on academic success, we are also so very proud of the way in which our students have developed their character alongside the academic excellence which has certainly made a significant contribution to the excellent achievements that we see today. Congratulations and very best wishes for the future.”
