Anti-social behaviour caused by gangs of youths will continue to be a police priority in Southwell.

The priority was set after reports of up to 30 youths gathering on War Memorial Recreation Ground.

Police Community Support Officer Richard Dunn said residents’ complaints had led the divisional commander, Chief Superintendent Dave Wakelin, to raise concerns about the activities of teenagers in Southwell.

Mr Dunn told Southwell Safer Neighbourhood Group that although young people did congregate on the park and had caused problems, the situation was not as bad as Chief Superintendent Wakelin had been led to believe.

However, he said the issue should remain a priority.
