Magnus student cut her hair for The Princess Trust
A Newark student has had her hair cut to support two good causes.
Magnus Church of England Academy student Georgia Bryan cut off 50cm of her hair for The Princess Trust, which creates wigs for young people who have lost their hair to cancer and other illnesses.
Georgia got the idea from a friend who had previously done the same.
She said: “I have always wanted a shorter cut and it made sense to put it towards a good cause. I wanted to cut it as short as possible so that more could go to charity.”
Georgia admitted she was nervous. “I never had any doubts about going through with it but I was nervous about how it might look. I am still teaching myself how to style it,” she said.
Her school has been putting up posters and making announcements in assemblies to encourage support for her cause.
Georgia said: “They have been great. My friends and family have also been so supportive and love my new cut.
“If anyone is considering a hair cut I recommend waiting and growing it longer and then donating your hair to the Princess Trust.
“It will make all the difference.”
The 17-year-old also set up a Justgiving page to raise money for Cancer Research UK, which is set to raise more than £500.
