Four Newark-area teenagers charged with rape in church gardens make first appearance at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court
Four teenagers from the Newark area who have been charged with rape have today (March 19) appeared in court.
The boys, two aged 15 and two others aged 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had their first hearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court which they attended accompanied by their parents.
Their charges — of rape of a woman 16 years of age or over — relate to an offence on December 28, 2023, at the parish church gardens.
They are next due to appear at the same court on April 2.
All four remain subject to strict bail conditions, including an overnight curfew and restrictions on who they may be in contact with.
One of the 17-year-old boys also faces additional charges of rape of a woman 16 years or over, relating to an offence on February 18, 2023, which also occurred in Newark.
