Hays Travel offers ten top tips for holidays as Newark shop reopens

The UK's largest independent travel agent has released ten top tips for choosing a great holiday to celebrate the reopening of its shops.

Hays Travel, which rescued Thomas Cook when it went bust in 2019, has a shop on Stodman Street, Newark.

Jane Schumm, Hays Travel's Retail Director, said: "It may seem complex and confusing to choose a holiday just now, but people are turning to reputable travel agents for advice on when and where it’s safe to go, and where their money will be safe.

"Since the government advised that it was okay to book a holiday, and our shops have re-opened, bookings have been steadily rising.

"Cruise bookings are going through the roof both for the round Britain options this summer and further afield in 2022 and 2023.

"More than half the bookings are for next summer — people want to be sure they won't miss out.

"It is good to be back on the High Street again and helping everyone find the holiday they really want."

• 1. If you want to go away this summer, you can. A reputable travel agent will help you choose your destination, support you if you need tests and/or quarantine and be here for you if things change.
• 2. A really good option for this summer, if you're quick, is a fabulous round Britain cruise. There's a huge choice with some of the world’s most luxurious liners.
• 3. Book early for the best offers and the most choice for next summer or later this year – beat the rush and any possible price changes.
• 4. Spread the cost by direct debit – paying a small deposit and monthly payments soon pays off the cost of the holiday.
• 5. You can register for updates as new cruises come on sale using the on-line registration on Hays Travel's website.

• 7. Keep up to date with your local branch by Facebook, in person, or make an appointment – you'll be made very welcome.
