The annual Upton Duck Race is being held this weekend
Greet Upton Duck Race is being held this weekend hoping to raise funds for the local community and its charities.
The annual event takes place this Sunday on the famous River Greet course - flowing into the River Trent - near Upton Mill where organisers are expecting members of the community and their decorative rubber ducks to take part in a light-hearted funday.
Action on the day begins at 12.00pm and to get involved you will have to buy a duck for £5 each either in advance at the Cross Keys and cricket club in Upton, or from the Flower Pod in Southwell.
There will be prizes for the race winners and if anyone purchases more than four ducks, they will also receive a special duck to design personally for entry into the Fancy Duck Race. Plenty of barbecue food and drinks will also be on sale riverside.
All profits from the event will be divided between Upton Cricket Club and local charities Reach and the Flower Pod at Brackenhurst, where adults with learning disabilities are able to work with local people to grow, cut and sell flowers.
In recent years Upton's annual Duck Race has raised over £1,600 for the Southwell charity and hopes to achieve similar numbers this year.
