Community order breaches and speeding among latest cases at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court
A man who stole £390 worth of coats from a shop has been jailed after breaching his community order.
Christopher Dean Coupe, also known as Chris Jenkins, 37, of Portland Street, Newark, breached his community order by failing to attend his initial appointments in the two weeks after the order was made.
He admitted the breach when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on December 30, 2024.
The order was made on October 12, 2024, after Coupe stole the coats from Boyes, Newark, on two occasions on October 10, 2024.
He was dealt with for the original offences, and sentenced to six weeks in prison for each, to be served concurrently.
The court stated this was due to a “wilful and persistent failure to comply with the requirements of a community order” and his “flagrant disregard for people and their property”.
A speeding motorist appeared before Magistrates’ for sentencing on January 6.
Emily Jane Rogers, 35, of Great North Road, Weston, pleaded guilty to driving at a speed exceeding 30mph on the B6166 Lincoln Road, Newark, on April 4, 2024.
The Audi driver was fined £72, ordered to pay costs of £48, and had three points added to her licence.
Another speeding motorist appeared on the same day.
Christopher James Thompson, 80, of Spindle View, Calverton, pleaded guilty to exceeding the 30mph limit on Longdale Lane, Ravenshead, on May 9, 2024.
The Vauxhall driver was fined £40, ordered to pay costs of £106, and had three points added to his licence.
Jay-lee Robinson, 19, of Cedar Lane, Ollerton, appeared at court on January 7, and admitted breaching his community order.
He failed to attend unpaid work as instructed on two occasions, in October and November 2024.
Robinson was fined £230 and ordered to pay costs of £60.
