Thousands attend Southwell Ploughing Match and Show at Farnsfield
Thousands of visitors made it another successful year for Southwell Ploughing Match and Show.
Around 10,000 people went along to this year's event at Farnsfield.
“The festival was really good. I’d say it was a success and that everyone had a great time,” said Emma Cross, the general show secretary.
The show featured agriculture contests, including livestock, the traditional ploughing matches, plashing, and mechanical flail hedge-cutting.
There were also more than 130 trade stands.
“The main ring always seemed to be busy when there were events going on,” Emma said.
There were exhibitions of home-grown produce and a farmer's market, covering two areas of the event site with a wide range of locally-grown and produced food sold.
It also featured dog shows with competition classes for pedigree and novelty categories.
Competition categories varied from best 12 heads of oats with 9ins straw to six heaviest carrots.
The show is family-friendly and disability-friendly, having also staged riding for the disabled classes.
Next year show will take place on September 30 at South Muskham.
