Thousands raised by East Markham community for liver disease research at quiz night
More than £2,000 was raised for rare liver disease research during a charity quiz event.
The quiz, organised by Daniel and Emily Wong, was held at East Markham Community Centre to raise money for research into a rare liver disease.
Mr and Mrs Wong’s five-year-old daughter, Eleanor, has progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) a rare genetic liver disease.
The condition is characterised by severe itching, malabsorption, short stature, and liver failure.
Nine teams competed in six rounds of questions, the winning team being from East Markham.
Mr James Vincent was compere for the evening and The Village Butcher, Tuxford, provided a complimentary hog roast. Desserts were donated by the Newark branch of Bakkavor.
A total of £2,750 was raised in ticket sales, raffle tickets and an auction of wine and a hand-crafted cake.
