Gonerby Moor Services, Foston Service Station and Toll Bar Service Station on A1 near Grantham will benefit from £464,000 grant
Three A1 service stations in the Grantham area will benefit from funding of around £464,000.
The Government is providing Gonerby Moor Services, Foston Service Station and Toll Bar Service Station in Grantham with grants totalling approximately £464,000 from the first round of the HGV Parking and Driver Welfare Match-Funding Grant Scheme.
Dr Caroline Johnson MP for Sleaford and North Hykeham has said that she welcomes better facilities for lorry drivers through the match-funding scheme.
A total of 39 roadside facility operators across England will each receive a share of £8 million from the Department for Transport (DfT) and a further £11 million from industry to significantly upgrade truck stops for lorry drivers.
The scheme provides match-funding to support lorry parking operators to improve HGV driver welfare facilities like showers, rest areas and restaurants, and increase heavy goods vehicle (HGV) parking capacity while improving security for drivers.
Gonerby Moor Services will receive multiple areas of improvement, with Foston and Toll Bar Service Station receiving HGV parking and security enhancements.
Dr Johnson said: “I am pleased that the constituency of Sleaford and North Hykeham has received this significant support for our road haulage and logistics sector, and that service stations along our stretch of the A1 will be providing better facilities for lorry drivers during their stops. “
Roads minister, Richard Holden, said: “Dr Caroline Johnson MP has been campaigning hard for this and I’m so glad that the Sleaford and North Hykeham constituency has got this funding for safer more secure lorry parks that improve driver welfare, reduce crime with greater security and ensuring there are better places for lorries to stay when they need to stop, rather than at the roadside.”
