The new plans for Newark Hospital are due to take effect from April 1, including the change from A & E to a minor injuries unit plus.

In September NHS Nottinghamshire County will publish its final plans for the whole hospital, including emergency and planned care and the mental health services.

The PCT says everything will stay the same until March 31.

The Newark Healthcare Review project leader, Tracy Gaskill, said some services may run alongside each other temporarily and they had factored that into the project.

From October an intensive campaign will tell people about the changes and what can be treated at the minor injuries unit.

The recruitment of emergency care practitioners and staff training is expected to be completed by January.

Tracy Gaskill said there were no immediate changes introduced after Thursday’s board meeting. Nothing will change until April 1, she said.
