Slow traffic on A1 following car fire

Queues formed on the A1 southbound at Fernwood this afternoon following a car fire.

The car fire, which produced a large plume of black smoke, resulted in the closure of the A1 southbound after its Fernwood junction

Firefighters responded to the incident and put out the fire.

The northbound carriageway remained open.
