Damage to overhead wires near Grantham is causing disruption to rail services on the East Coast Mainline.

Virgin Trains East Coast said services between Grantham and Doncaster would be affected until approximately 5pm, with trains delayed for up to an hour.

The 16:15 and 16:45 services from Leeds to London King's Cross were cancelled.

Virgin Trains East Coast managing director said in a tweet that a component from the overhead electric wires came off and got stuck in a train's pantograph.

Virgin Trains East Coast customers can use their tickets on TransPennine Express and Hull Trains services.
