Southwell Town Council decide unanimously to use reserves to repair trampolines at War Memorial Recreation Ground
Council member have agreed to use reserve funds to repair popular children’s equipment in a Southwell park after a child was injured.
At Southwell Town Council’s full council meeting on Wednesday (September 18), it was decided unanimously by members to use reserves to repair the two trampoline beds at the War Memorial Recreation Ground, on Bishop’s Drive, after the granddaughter of a resident cut her feet on the equipment due to metal fibres being exposed.
The trampolines were closed for investigation, and both trampoline beds were adjudged to need to be replaced, at the cost of £730 per unit.
At the full council meeting, it was decided that the expenditure was to be taken from Open Spaces Reserve, which stands at £13,976.84.
It was proposed by chairman Martin Stott to go ahead with the repairs, and agreed on unanimously.
Peter Harris said that the trampolines were “dangerous” and the repairs needed to be done.
