Tributes paid to Newark and Sherwood district councillor who has died
Tributes have been paid to Newark and Sherwood district councillor who has sadly died.
Michael Brown was a Conservative member and represented Edwinstowe and Clipstone since he first joined the authority in 2019.
He had also been an Edwinstowe Parish Councillor since 2015.
Newark and Sherwood District Council leader David Lloyd: said: “It is with much sadness that I learned of the passing of councillor Michael Brown.
"Michael was a devoted member who worked tirelessly in serving the people he represented. My sincere condolences go out to Michael’s family.”
Fellow councillor Johno Lee reacted with great sadness to the news.
"It’s with the deepest sadness to be told of the passing of councillor Michael Brown," Mr Lee wrote on Facebook.
"I classed Michael as a good friend and a colleague at Newark and Sherwood Council.
"I am absolutely devastated as I’m sure his friends and family will be.
"Michael worked hard for the residents of the area that he deeply loved. Michael for many years worked in the NHS and worked tirelessly alongside his colleagues during the pandemic.
"A keen advocate of trade union movement, Michael took great pleasure in helping people as best he could.
"My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
"Fly high mate, you won’t be forgotten."
