She served for 16 years until May 2007 where she had a short break in service. She stood again in May 2015 until her death.

She passed away on Wednesday, August 4.

District council leader David Lloyd said: “On both a personal and professional level, Kathleen was always immensely friendly, collegiate and kind.

"She represented her ward, and those living there, with a style of modest but stoic compassion that she carried into everything that she did. She will be sorely missed.”

Leader of the Labour Group for Newark and Sherwood Paul Peacock said: "Kathleen was a vital member for Blidworth and she’ll be sadly missed.

"She spent decades working in the local community supporting others and we’ll miss her hugely. I offer my condolences to her friends and family and her actions as councillor will be remembered for years to come."
