Two men arrested after assault during Newark break-in




A man was allegedly assaulted during a break-in which police are investigating.

It is believed two people broke into the property in Lawrence Place, Newark, before punching the man and running off, leaving him with an injury to his face.

He was taken to hospital to be checked over but is reported to be recovering.

Shortly after the incident, which happened at around 4.30pm on Sunday, December 26, officers were at the scene.

They conducted a search of the area and subsequently arrested two men, aged 33 and 34, on suspicion of burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Detective Sergeant Jackie Price, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This incident not only left the man injured, but also completely shocked and shaken.

“Officers went straight to the scene and arrested two men in relation to the incident. We do believe that those thought to be involved are known to each other and that there is no wider risk to the public, and officers will also be in the area to offer reassurance and answer any concerns residents may have.

“We are robust in our action when we receive reports like this and officers continue to make enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 321 of 26 December 2021.”
