Nottinghamshire officers stop trailer in Flintham after being stolen from Doncaster
Two people have been arrested after officers tracked down a stolen trailer.
Nottinghamshire officers were called after colleagues in Leicestershire located a trailer, believed to have been stolen, as it travelled on the A46 towards Willoughby-on-the-Wolds.
Units from both forces caught up with the vehicle and brought it to a halt on Inholms Road, Flintham, just before 10.30am on Tuesday.
As officers made further inquiries, they discovered the trailer had been reported stolen from the Doncaster area on March 1.
Two men, aged 21 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and have since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Neighbourhood Inspector for Rushcliffe Rob Lawton said: “Cracking down on rural crime is a priority for Rushcliffe and we are committed to acting on information and working with partners and neighbouring forces to stop those committing these types of crimes in Nottinghamshire, or using the county’s roads to facilitate their activity.
“This was fantastic work from our officers, alongside Leicestershire colleagues, who acted very quickly when they received information that a stolen trailer was in our area.
“This led to the vehicle being stopped just a matter of minutes after coming into the area and two arrests being made.
“Rural crime is often devastating for victims, and in the case of having expensive equipment such as trailers stolen, it can not only cause a significant financial loss, but can also disrupt people’s day to day activity and their livelihoods too.
“This is why we continue to bolster our proactive efforts around this and encourage anyone with information about any such activity to get in touch with us on 101.”
