Two more step down from Bingham Town Council
Two more independent members have left a town council days after the departure of its deputy mayor.
Mr Kevin Hayes-Heath stepped down from Bingham Town Council on Thursday and Mrs Elizabeth Hutchison stepped down from the authority on Wednesday.
Both councillors were elected to the town council in May, 2015, as part of a team of 11 independent councillors.
Their resignations came after the departure of deputy mayor Mrs Tracey Kerry who stepped down last week after six years as a councillor.
By-elections will be held to replace each member if they are requested by at least ten electors in Bingham.
If this doesn’t happen, for any of the three vacancies, then a councillor would be co-opted, which means a councillor would be recruited without an election.
Mr Alan Harvey, Mayor of Bingham, said: "Ultimately I am desperately saddened that three of the council's most passionate, conscientious and hard-working councillors have been lost to us.
"This loss has deprived the council from some its best and most efficient resources during our drive to deliver improvements to the town.
"Elizabeth is a brilliant events organiser. If it was not for her the council would not have had last year's Christmas fair, this year's summer fair or the recent open mic night to name but a few.
"I liked Kevin. He was straight up, spoke from the heart, plenty of passion for the town, a very proactive planning chairman and had a good sense of humour."
