Two Newark street robberies take place within minutes




Notts Police are appealing for information following two Newark street robberies that took place within minutes.

A 22-year-old man was threatened with a knife and told to hand over cash by two men in Howes Court at around 6.13pm on Thursday.

When the victim said he had no money, he was punched in the head as the robbers took his carrier bag from him which contained a phone, car keys and DVDs.

Moments later at around 6.21pm on Whitfield Street, a 23-year-old woman had her mobile phone snatched from her by two men.

A 32-year-old man who was with her chased them but was then threatened by one of the males with a knife.

In both incidents the men were described as white and in their late teens to early 20s.

Officers believe the robberies may be linked.
