He was sentenced when he appeared at the court on November 25, when he was fined £269 and ordered to pay costs of £218.

His six points were added his licence, but Cobb avoided disqualification as the court heard it would affect his ability to take a family member to health appointments and his ability to pay rent.

Also before Magistrates’ for sentencing on November 25 was Tee-Jay Cunningham, 26, of Petersmith Drive, Ollerton.

The Honda driver was recorded at 51mph on the A38 Kings Mill Road/Kirkby Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield — which has a 30mph speed limit.

The offence occurred on May 16, and Cunningham pleaded guilty on September 20.

He was fined £415, ordered to pay costs of £276, and had six points added to his licence.

Another speeding driver was disqualified due to repeat offending when he appeared in court on November 26.

Elke Schermer, 62, of Mickledale Lane, Bilsthorpe, drove a Vauxhall at 46mph along the A6117 Pump Hollow Road, Forest Town, exceeding the 40mph limit.

Schermer pleaded guilty on September 20 to the offence, which took place on May 14.

He was fined £40, ordered to pay costs of £101, and had three points added to his licence — as well as being disqualified from holding a licence for six months.
