Confirmed coronavirus cases in Newark and Sherwood reaches 7,249 today (Sunday, April 18)




Five new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Newark and Sherwood, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

A total of 7,249 cases have now been reported in the district since the start of the pandemic.

In Nottinghamshire, excluding the city, there have been 55,227 cases, an increase of 22 on the previous day.

In Ashfield there have been 9,597 (up 1) Bassetlaw 8,097 (up 7) Broxtowe 7,107 (up 1) Gedling 8,152 (up 1) Mansfield 8,196 (up 5) Rushcliffe 6,829 (up 2) and Nottingham 30,572 (up 13).

In the last seven days there have been 30 positive cases recorded in Newark and Sherwood. This represents a decrease.

Cases identified through a positive rapid lateral flow test will be removed for people who took polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests within three days that were all negative.

In the latest 24-hour period, no new deaths were reported in Newark and Sherwood within 28 days of the person testing positive for the virus. The total remains at 207.

The number of people vaccinated with the first dose up to April 17 is 32,693,527. The total for the second dose is 9,416,968.

An easing of the national lockdown has been announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

People can now meet in groups of up to six outside and travel to see their friends and families, with outdoor sports finally resuming, as well as visit non-essential retail and hospitality.
