Newark actor Oliver Woollford returns to TV this evening in the second series of Channel 4 show Utopia.

Oliver reprises his role as Grant, a troubled and almost feral child, in the show which begins tonight at 10pm.

Also starring Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Alexandra Roach and Stephen Rea, Utopia originally centred around an unlikely group that stumbled across a plot called the Janus Project to sterlise the human race.

Even prior to broadcast, the new series of Utopia has attracted criticism. It depicts the death of Conservative politician Airey Neave, who was killed in 1979 by a carbomb placed by the Irish National Liberation Army. It has been reported that the programme suggests, as part of a fictional storyline, that he was killed by the government and not terrorists.

Channel 4 has released a statement, which read: "The drama series Utopia is entirely fictional, it is a conspiracy thriller about a fictional organization called The Network.

"Utopia occasionally blends real moments in history with fictional storylines, meaning some events and characters have been adapted for dramatic licence within the context of the series. It is not our intention to cause offence and Utopia does not suggest that any other real organisation was responsible for the death of Airey Neave.

"That period in history has been both widely reported and dramatised over the last 35 years and is the subject of many conspiracy theories."
