Newark: First anniversary marked for Dixon and Young veterinary practice in Ollerton

A delicious chocolate cake marked the first anniversary of a veterinary practice.

Dixon and Young, established by Janice Dixon and Natasha Young, is based in the former police houses in Ollerton.

The practice opened after months of extensive refurbishment at the premises, which has retained some of its original features, including the windows of the former police cells.

The pair, who have over 35 years’ experience in practice, now look after more than 6,000 registered pets, including coati and civet cats, a duck, and a giant tortoise.

Natasha said: “It has certainly been a challenge to open a practice during a worldwide pandemic, but we’ve done everything we can to continue to provide a full service to our clients, and we’ve adapted so that everyone can stay safe.

“I’m grateful to our brilliant team for working hard to ensure this can happen.”

In addition to her partnership at Dixon & Young, vet Janice Dixon plays an important role in the Nottinghamshire Help For Horses charity, which provides stabling, care and rehabilitation for, sick, injured and abandoned horses in the county.
