Thurgarton Hall set for sustainable refurbishment thanks to near-£50,000 FCC Communities Foundation grant

A village hall is set for a sustainable refurbishment thanks to a grant of nearly £50,000.

The funding — given by FCC Communities Foundation — will go towards improving the energy efficiency of Thurgarton Village Hall, including the insulation of the walls and roof, replacement of windows and timber cladding, as well a new roof.

The £49,230 hopes to bring long-term benefits to the community and the groups that use it.

David Lewis, Thurgarton Community Association chairman, and vice-chairman of the parish council, said: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Thurgarton.

“It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us the money and we are really looking forward to our energy-efficient hall taking shape over the next few months.”

The facility is hoped to be ready for use by July.

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.
