Coddington residents revolted by Council lack of action on Bottles Recycling Bank
Calls have been made for bottle banks to be returned to a village.
Coddington used to have around eight banks in The Plough carpark until they were removed to make way for development.
Although it was said they would be relocated, years later residents are still awaiting their return.
“They rejected putting it in the community centre carpark, came up with reasons that it was unsuitable, issues with glass around the carpark but I don’t see what issues makes it different from being in my carpark,” said the owner of The Plough.
“They also mentioned the restricted hours of access, again, that is irrelevant for me, because people can just go in when it’s open.
“One other reason why I get frustrated is that people come into my carpark at the Plough and use my bins, the ones that I have to pay for.”
Johno Lee, who represents Coddington on Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “ Myself and the parish council had a meeting and sadly, due to covenants on the community centre, it is not suitable,
“Both parties are disappointed that the recycling banks had to be removed from the original site due to a planning application and we will endeavour to try and find another.”
“We are working hard to find a new location for them but if any landowners in the Coddington area have any available land to relocate them to,” said Councillor Roger Jackson, portfolio holder for Cleaner, Safer, Greener at Newark and Sherwood Council.
