Violent offender sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court after admitting attacking ex-partner at her Rushcliffe home
A violent offender has been sentenced after admitting he repeatedly assaulted his former partner, leaving her covered in bruises.
Christopher Dawe, 31, launched a prolonged attack on the woman at her home in the Rushcliffe area during the early hours of February 12, 2022, which left her with bruises to much of her body.
Officers began an investigation and Dawe was charged with a number of offences — however he continued to intimidate and threaten her, despite being warned to keep away from her as part of his bail conditions.
Dawe further bombard her with messages, and also assaulted her again when they met.
Dawe, of Castle Orchard, Duffield, Derbyshire, pleaded guilty to five assaults occasioning actual bodily harm and one of assault by beating.
At Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, December 16, he was served a 20 month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Detective Constable Stephen Dunn, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Dawe’s threatening and violent behaviour towards the victim was cowardly and persistent.
“This kind of violence against women is absolutely appalling and we will always work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice and safeguard victims.
“We realise some vulnerable victims of domestic abuse may be concerned about taking part in the legal process to get justice.
“We understand those concerns and work hard with our partners to overcome them in any way we can.”
