Volunteering in retirement for Children's Bereavement Centre's valuable service
Caro Lawrenson, a trustee and community volunteer who helps out at Children’s Bereavement Centre events, is looking for others to join her.
Caro is a retired GP who worked in the Newark area for over 40 years and has referred families to the CBC since its inception. She said the positive feedback from those referred, both children and their parents/carers, made her realise what a valuable service the charity provides.
She did some fundraising in 2017 and felt she could contribute to the charity as a volunteer and trustee, adding her medical experience to the team.
Caro said: “I enjoy volunteering because the centre provides such a valuable service to numerous families but like so many other charities has to rely on fundraising and donations to survive.”
“Volunteers play a vital role in this and I find that volunteering is fun and rewarding. The 'feel good' factor from the positive feedback is amazing and I get to meet many wonderful people along the way.”
